The exhibition has a chronological order and is divided into historical stages. It combines traditional, static elements (boards, large-format photographs, maps and drawings) as well as dynamic multimedia presentations.
As soon as visitors walk into the Centre’s vestibule, they can see a fragment of the Old Town’s historic wall which was discovered by archaeologists during excavations. Next, following a short introduction on the history of Warsaw and the Old Town, visitors are acquainted with the history of the Old Town and its inhabitants during World War II. History is told through the stories of specific tenement houses, streets and churches. One of the exhibition halls is dedicated to the reconstruction of the Old Town after the war and its placement on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1980.
